Shepherd’s Conference 2012

Last week the 39^th Shepherd’s Conference held at Grace Community Church concluded.  Several of our own IBC men had to the opportunity to attend this spiritually rejuvenating conference alongside over 3,000 pastors, elders, and church leaders from all around the world.  The conference was three days long and packed with 9 general sessions and 34 seminars.  In the general sessions, we heard from some of the greatest preachers of our time.  John MacArthur renewed our view of the Holy Spirit as he spoke on Romans 8, using Jesus as the model of a spirit-controlled person. Tom Pennington exposited Ephesians 4, pertaining to our unity in Christ.  Steve Lawson convicted our hearts to proclaim Christ crucified by using 1 Corinthians 2.  Al Mohler strengthened us by reminding us of the call of the preacher in Colossians 1.  And who can forget Voddie Baucham’s exhortation to us to be obedient biblical men as outlined in Ephesians 5.

This year IBC had a record number of men attending.  As Mark C. and Daniel Y. shared last week during second hour, for those hesitant about going, it is well worth taking a few days off to focus on God’s word being preached by some of today’s preeminent Christian leaders.  Ask anyone who went and they will tell you how blessed they were to attend.  The hundreds of volunteers were extremely gracious and hospitable ensuring that we had a great time and that our stomachs were full. But just as memorable were the worship times when the voices of thousands of men filled the church with great hymns of truth. We thank Grace Community Church and the hundreds of volunteers for the amazing work that they do to put together this event.  Men, join us if you can for next year’s Shepherd’s Conference.  You will be tremendously encouraged and blessed!
